Washington: The white house has stated that President Joe Biden is keeping a close eye on the situation in bangladesh and that the united states would hold the country's interim government responsible for guaranteeing the safety of its religious and ethnic minority.

Bangladesh's security situation has been challenging since the former prime minister was overthrown. At a press conference on Thursday, white house National Security Communications Advisor john Kirby stated, "We have been collaborating closely with the interim government to improve their law enforcement and security services' capacity to handle the challenge.""In our interactions with all Bangladeshi leaders, we have made it very evident that security for all Bangladeshis, irrespective of their faith or ethnicity, depends on the protection of religious and ethnic minorities. In answer to a query, Kirby stated, "We want to hold them to that."Indian Americans have been calling on Biden to assist in halting alleged violence against the minority Hindu community in bangladesh by nonviolent demonstrations and marches in a number of cities over the past few weeks, including in front of the white house, Chicago, New York, SFO, Detroit, Houston, and Atlanta.

During senator Marco Rubio's confirmation hearing for the post of secretary of state earlier in the day, Indian-American Congressman raja Krishnamoorthi urged Senate Foreign Relations Committee members to address the issue of violence against minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh.Senator Rubio has been selected by President-elect donald trump to be the top diplomat. There is currently no announcement on the date of his confirmation hearing."As targeted violence against Hindus and other minorities continues amid the disorder in bangladesh, I urge the members of the Senate's Committee on Foreign Relations to address this crisis directly during the upcoming hearings to confirm senator Rubio as the next US secretary of state," Krishnamoorthi stated.

Due to claimed attacks on Hindus in bangladesh, a sizable contingent of Indian-Americans marched from the white house to the US Capitol over the weekend. The protesters, who held up signs that said "We want Justice" and "Protect Hindus," called on the Biden and incoming trump administrations to request that the new government in bangladesh take measures to safeguard Hindus and to take legal action against those who are responsible for this."The Bangladeshi Hindu community and the larger Hindu diaspora from the indian subcontinent have come in support of the bangladesh Hindu community because there is continuing violence going on in bangladesh, specifically in Chittagong and Rangpur area, as well as in some other parts of the country," Utsav Chakrabarti of HinduACTion
