Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha: "Savarkar said there is nothing Indian about the Constitution."
Rahul gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the lok sabha, used Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on saturday to criticise the bharatiya janata party (BJP) in the legislature.
"I want to start my speech by quoting what the supreme leader, not of the bjp but of the modern interpretation of the ideas of the RSS has to say about the Constitution of india and about how he thinks india should be run -"There is nothing indian about the indian Constitution, which is its weakest feature. For our Hindu nation, the Manusmriti is the most revered text after the Vedas, and it served as the foundation for our culture, traditions, way of thinking, and way of life in antiquity.LIVE updates for the Winter Session of Parliament
"Our country's spiritual and heavenly march has been enshrined in this book for generations. Manusmiriti is the law today. "These are Savarkar's words," gandhi stated in the lok sabha during a debate marking the 75th anniversary of the indian Constitution's promulgation. In his writings, Savarkar has made it very evident that our Constitution is not indian in any way. He has made it plain that this book should take precedence over the one that governs India. Regarding Savarkar, who is viewed as a bjp and RSS ideology, the congress MP from Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, stated, "This is what the fight is about.""I want to ask you (ruling side), do you stand by your leader's words?" gandhi remarked, criticising the bjp MPs. Do you agree with what your leader says? Because you are making fun of Savarkar, mistreating him, and slandering him when you talk about defending the Constitution in Parliament."
Rahul gandhi calls upon "Eklavya"
gandhi also cited "Eklavya," which is mentioned in Hindu scriptures, during his speech in the Lok Sabha. He recounted the account of 'Eklavya' who offered his thumb as a sacrifice to Guru Dronacharya and claimed that a fight was raging throughout India.
"You severed the youth's thumb when you implemented Agniveer. You cut off the thumb of the young people of india when there are 70 paper leaks. You launched tear gas shells and a lathi charge on farmers outside of delhi today', he claimed."You must provide MSP to farmers. They insist on a fair fee. But you cut off farmers' thumbs while facilitating adani and Ambani's profits. We say "daro matt" and "Abhayamudra." According to you, "Hum aapka angootha kaat denge." "This is the distinction," gandhi continued.
To mark the start of the 75th year since the Constitution's adoption, the lok sabha began a two-day debate on it on december 13.
