Why Retail inflation rate has decreased in Food inflation?

Reportedly after retail inflation, wholesale based inflation rate also declined in the month of November. In november 2024, wholesale inflation rate has come down to a three-month low of 1.89 percent, which was 2.36 percent in october 2024. Last year in november 2023, wholesale based inflation rate was 0.39 percent.

Perhaps the Ministry of Commerce has released the data of wholesale price based inflation rate. According to this data, wholesale inflation rate has come down to 1.89 percent in the month of November. Wholesale inflation rate has declined due to slowing down of the pace of increase in prices of food items. Food inflation rate stood at 8.92 percent in the month of november, which was 11.6 percent in october 2024. The inflation rate of vegetable prices has increased by 28.57 percent which had increased by 63 percent in October. The price of grains has increased by 7.81 percent in november which had increased by 7.9 percent in October.

Moreover the inflation rate of potatoes in november has been 82.79 percent which had increased by 78.73 percent in October. The inflation rate of onions has come down to 2.85 percent in november which was 39.25 percent in October. The inflation rate of eggs, meat and fish has increased by 3.16 percent in november which had increased by -0.52 percent in October. The inflation rate of fruits has decreased. It has been 8.41 percent in november which was 13.55 percent in October. Retail inflation rate figures were announced last week. Retail inflation has come down to 5.48 percent in november from 6.21 percent in October. Food inflation has also come down. Inflation is coming down due to better production of Kharif crops and increased arrival of vegetables in the market.
