Cricket betting in Delhi done in Two ways
Reportedly the Crime Branch of delhi police has exposed a cricket betting racket. The racket was betting on the matches of the Big Bash League t20 going on in Australia. The police raided and arrested 10 people associated with the racket. The Crime Branch has recovered 5 laptops, 24 mobile phones, 1 LED smart tv and several notepads from the accused. The Crime Branch had received information that a person named Rakesh Vaishnav was running a betting business in a flat on Joshi Road in Karol Bagh. On the information, on 21 december 2024 at 11:30 am, the police team raided the flat. police said that 10 people were found betting from three rooms of the flat. 5 laptops, 24 mobile phones, 1 LED smart tv and notepads were recovered from the accused. During the investigation, it was found that the bookies were betting in two ways. The first method was online betting.
Meanwhile the accused Jagrit alias Sunny had bought a master ID from a website named JMD Sports.com. A super master ID was created from the master ID and sold to the bettors. On every transaction, the master ID holder got 5 percent profit and the racket got 95 percent profit. The second method was offline betting. The betting people used to contact the bookies over the phone and invest money. Notepad was used in the business. The main accused Rakesh Vaishnav had rented a flat for Rs 45 thousand per month. According to the police, the racket of betting has been going on for a year. There was a transaction of Rs 1.5 lakh on every match.
Moreover to increase the profit, the betting kingpin Rakesh Vaishnav added bookies from three more states. 48 year old Rakesh Vaishnav is the mastermind of the cricket betting racket. Rakesh, a resident of Karol Bagh, is 8th pass. He left his job as a goldsmith and took up the business of betting. The kingpin used to take 20 percent profit. The names of the arrested accused are ajay Kumar, yogesh Taneja, tarun Khanna, manish Jain, Kushal, Parvesh Kumar, Harvinder Deol alias Happy, gautam Das, Jagrit alias Sunny Sahani. The police have registered a case and are busy unearthing the network of the cricket betting racket.
