The GO stipulates that employers must adhere to labor laws, particularly regarding working hours and wages. Employees who work beyond the standard 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week must be compensated at double their regular wage, as per Siasat. On the more, workers who are required to work on holidays should be given an off on alternative days. The order also clarifies that female employees are permitted to work during night shifts, as per government Order No. 476.
In a related decision, the telangana government has also allowed Muslim government employees, including those on contract, outsourcing, and public sector roles, to leave their offices or schools an hour early during Ramzan. This exemption, applicable from march 2 to march 31, 2025, enables employees to depart at 4 PM to observe the holy month’s rituals and preparations.
"Government hereby permits all the government Muslim Employees/ teachers / contract / Out-sourcing / Boards / Corporations & Public Sector Employees working in the State to leave their Offices / Schools at 4.00 p.m. during the Holy Month of "RAMZAN" i.e., from 02.03.2025 to 31.03.2025 (both days inclusive) to offer necessary prayers, except when their presence is required due to exigencies of services during the above period," the telangana government order stated.
The order remains applicable for all government employees including corporations, contract and outsourced staff, boards, and teachers.
