Telangana cm reddy Meets PM Modi, Seeks Nod For hyderabad Metro Expansion & Semiconductor Hub

Telangana cm revanth reddy underscored the urgent need for Hyderabad Metro’s second phase, which aims to expand the network by 76.4 km across five corridors at an estimated cost of Rs 24,269 crore.

Telangana chief minister A revanth reddy met prime minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, seeking the Centre’s approval and financial assistance for key infrastructure projects, including the second phase of the hyderabad Metro and the Regional Ring Road (RRR). The discussions also revolved around logistics corridors, semiconductor manufacturing, and river rejuvenation projects, data-aligning with Telangana’s $1 trillion GDP vision under ‘Telangana Rising’.

Accompanied by minister for IT and industry D sridhar Babu, revanth reddy underscored the urgent need for Hyderabad Metro’s second phase, which aims to expand the network by 76.4 km across five corridors at an estimated cost of Rs 24,269 crore, as per a report on IANS. Criticizing the previous BRS government for delaying the project, reddy urged fast-track approvals to improve urban mobility and reduce congestion in Hyderabad.

The cm updated PM Modi that 90% of land acquisition for the northern segment of the rrr is complete, requesting immediate approval for the southern segment, with the state offering to bear 50% of the land acquisition costs. Additionally, he proposed a Regional Ring rail project—a high-speed rail network linking telangana to neighboring states, aimed at boosting trade, industry, and passenger mobility in South India.

Highlighting Telangana’s landlocked geography, revanth reddy proposed developing dry ports along the rrr corridor to enhance export-import operations. He also sought the Centre’s assistance for a dedicated Greenfield Road and a parallel railway network, connecting Telangana’s dry ports to Andhra Pradesh’s seaports, positioning the state as a logistics hub.

Chief minister revanth reddy has requested Rs 20,000 crore in central funding for Hyderabad's ambitious musi river rejuvenation project. The initiative includes developing bapu Ghat at the Esa-Musi confluence, setting up 27 sewage treatment plants (STPs) to cleanse the river, constructing retaining walls and embankments to prevent encroachments, and integrating the Musi and Godavari rivers to ensure a steady water flow.

Additionally, he sought the transfer of 222.7 acres for the gandhi Sarovar Project, which aims to strengthen Hyderabad’s water security and environmental sustainability.
