The city police had enforced 52 conditions to ensure the event maintained public order, explicitly banning political and communal speeches, reported
Despite the court's restrictions, several leaders reportedly made politically charged and sensitive remarks, prompting criticism from various quarters. Advocate Vanchinathan, on behalf of the madurai Interfaith People's Federation, filed a formal complaint with police Commissioner Lokanathan, urging action for the violation of the court's directives, as per a report on India Today.
Subsequent investigations led to the filing of an FIR at the Anna nagar police Station. Those named in the report include Annamalai, Subramaniam, Hindu Munnani member Selvakumar, and others. They have been charged under sections related to promoting religious enmity, inciting communal tensions, and disrupting public peace.
This development adds to Annamalai's legal troubles. In a separate incident from december 2024, he and over 900 bjp members data-faced police action for conducting a protest in chennai without permission. The protest, termed a ‘Black Day’, opposed the tamil Nadu government’s decision to allow a funeral procession for SA Basha, convicted in the 1998 coimbatore bombings.
