“From Driver to Owner”: Amit Shah’s Remark to Taxi Drivers
He emphadata-sized that strengthening the cooperative sector is a top priority of the government.
Shah said those who work hard within the cooperative model will directly reap the benefits of their efforts.
Cooperative Model Explained
Shah stated that if people truly understand cooperation, their doubts would end.
He defined cooperation as working together and earning together.
Citing Amul as an example, he said 36 lakh women members in gujarat built the organization collectively.
Each member initially invested just ₹50, showing how small contributions can create large enterprises.
Today, Amul has grown into a ₹1.25 lakh crore business, proving the strength of collective ownership.
Shah suggested listing 25 women members who supplied milk worth over ₹1 crore annually to showcase cooperative success stories.
Driver Is the Owner’
Shah clarified that, unlike private companies, Bharat Taxi is designed to enrich its members.
Drivers can become co-owners by investing ₹500.
If Bharat Taxi earns ₹25 crore in three years, 20% (₹5 crore) will go into the cooperative’s capital fund.
The remaining 80% will be distributed among drivers based on kilometersdriven.
Drivers will earn fixed fares plus profit shares, though patience is needed during the initial three years.
Transparent & People-Centric System
Shah stressed that Bharat Taxi aims to empower people, not private corporations.
All accounts will remain transparent and accessible to members.
Information will be shared in advance, ensuring trust and clarity.
The platform will operate strictly on cooperative principles and will not exploit drivers.
Built by Major Cooperatives
Bharat Taxi was launched by bringing together five major cooperative institutions due to limited capital.
As membership grows, any “Sarathi” can become an owner with a ₹500 share.
Board elections will include reserved seats for driver-members to protect their interests.
Assured Fare Structure
Shah assured that fares will never fall below the fixed minimum rate.
Profits will be addedon top of the decided base fare.
Weekly notices will keep drivers informed about all operational decisions.
