New Delhi: The
National Highways Authority of india (NHAI) has announced a
revision in the FASTag Annual Pass fee for the financial year 2026–27. Starting
April 1, 2026, the cost of the pass will go up slightly for private vehicle owners.
Revised Fee: What Has Changed?Under the updated toll rules, the FASTag Annual Pass will now be priced at
₹3,075, up from the earlier
₹3,000 rate. This represents a
₹75 increase compared with the previous year’s charge. The revision applies to the financial year
2026–27 and is part of the annual adjustment of toll‑related fees under the
National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008.
Who Is Eligible for the FASTag Annual Pass? The FASTag Annual Pass is intended mainly for
non‑commercial private vehicles — such as cars, jeeps, and vans — that already have a valid FASTag linked to the vehicle’s registration. Holders of eligible FASTags can opt for the annual pass instead of paying toll charges on a per‑trip basis.
Benefits of the Annual PassThe Annual Pass offers several advantages:
- Cost‑Effective Toll Payment: It covers up to 200 toll crossings or one year, whichever occurs first, across eligible National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas.
- Convenience: Users can travel through these toll booths without paying tolls individually each time.
- Cashless Travel: The pass is linked to your FASTag account, enabling seamless, cashless movement on most national highways.
For frequent travellers on highways — such as commuters and road trip enthusiasts — the annual pass helps
simplify toll payments and potentially reduce overall costs compared with frequent per‑trip charges.
How to Buy or Renew the Annual PassThe Annual Pass can be purchased or renewed
online through:
- The Rajmarg yatra mobile app, which is the official portal for managing FASTag passes, or
- The NHAI (or associated FASTag) website.
After payment, the pass is typically
activated on the registered FASTag within a few hours. This means once the pass is live, the vehicle can begin using highway toll booths without individual toll charges as covered by the pass terms.
Limitations and Notes- The pass does not cover toll plazas on state roads, private expressways, or non‑NHAI managed routes; standard FASTag charges apply for such routes.
- The pass is non‑transferable between vehicles.
- Once the 200‑trip limit is reached or one year expires, whichever comes first, the annual pass validity ends — and users must either recharge it again or pay regular tolls.
Impact on Highway UsersThe slight increase to
₹3,075 reflects a small adjustment in annual travel costs for frequent highway commuters and private vehicle owners. With millions of users already adopting the FASTag Annual Pass since its launch, this revision will affect a large number of regular travellers across the country.
