Government rules and gas company guidelines state that when a household takes a PNG connection, the LPG connection must be surrendered within a specified timeframe (usually 60 days) after PNG supply begins. This is meant to avoid duplication of household fuel connections and streamline the use of piped gas.

Recent policy moves also reinforce this — households with PNG connections are now generally not entitled to receive domestic LPG refills or new connections from public oil companies.

📝 Step‑by‑Step: How to Surrender Your LPG Connection

1. Contact Your LPG Distributor

✔ Visit your local LPG distributor (the company you booked cylinders from — e.g., Indane, Bharat Gas, hp Gas).
✔ Tell them you have obtained a PNG connection and want to surrender your LPG connection.

2. Submit a Written Request

✔ Submit a written surrender request including your name, LPG customer ID, and PNG connection details.
✔ Include any unused or empty cylinders if you have them.

Some distributors may allow online surrender requests through their LPG customer portal (Indane/HP Gas/Bharat Gas). It’s helpful to check the official app/website of your LPG provider.

3. Return Cylinders & Accessories

✔ Hand over any empty or unused LPG cylinders and regulators to the distributor.
✔ Returning cylinders is important from both safety and policy compliance perspectives.

Empty cylinders still contain vapors and are considered safety hazards if left unused at home.

4. Get Your Safe‑Custody / Termination Voucher

✔ After surrendering, the distributor will issue you a Safe Custody Voucher or Termination Voucher (TV).
✔ This voucher acts as proof of surrender and shows any security deposit refund entitlement you have.

This voucher can often be used to reactivate an LPG connection in the future at any location nationwide against the same deposit amount (subject to terms of the oil company).

5. Refund of Security Deposit

✔ Once surrendered, you’ll receive the refund of your LPG security deposit (if applicable); this may be credited through bank transfer or as per the distributor’s process.

🗓 Timeframe to Complete Surrender

Most gas suppliers expect surrender within 60 days of PNG supply activation. If you delay beyond this, some suppliers may have the right to disconnect your PNG connection until you comply.
