SC's order came after decriminalization of Gay Sex

According to sources it was stated that Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code that criminalizes carnal sex between two consenting adults is up for review once again. Sources have made a statement that three judge bench of the Supreme Court, which is headed by the Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra said on 8 January that it would reconsider and examine the constitutional validity of Section 377.



Meanwhile the Supreme Court had also issued a notice to the Centre, seeking a response to a writ petition filed by five members of LGBT community who allege that they live in fear of the police because of their sexual preferences.


Furthermore the order came after a plea seeking the decriminalization of gay sex. This order will certainly have a greater influence among many in the society.
