AP to face Three Cornered fight, Voting Begins Moderately

Reportedly the voting for 175 Assembly seats and 25 Parliamentary seats in Andhra Pradesh is being held simultaneously in a single phase election on Thursday. Meanwhile it is essentially a three cornered fight in the State the ruling Telugu Desam Party seeking a re-election, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress emerging as a strong contender, and actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena the new entrant.


Furthermore there are also the national parties the BJP and Congress contesting sans any alliance with the regional parties. Reportedly polling began 45 minutes late at Seventh Day Adventists school polling station in MVP Colony in Visakhapatnam East Assembly constituency as poll agents arrive late. Accordingly former Union Minister and Vizianagaram TDP Lok Sabha candidate Ashok Gajapathi Raju along with his daughter cast their votes in the first hours of polling.


Moreover as voters line up at various polling booths in Anantapur distrcit, the EVMs in booth no. 153 in the Raptadu Assembly constituency fail to work. Reportedly EVMs in polling booth no. 101 in the Visakhapatnam East constituency did not work and the voters became restless. Moreover Rameswar, a senior citizen at the GVMC High School booth in Muralinagar said, “Today is a holiday, and all his children have come home, so he wants to cast his franchise in the first hour and enjoy the day with his family. Today is a festive day.”
