Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, is one of India's most important festivals. It is also called as Guru Nanak's Prakash Utsav and is one of Sikhism's most important days of every year. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru, was born on this day in 1569. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was birthed at the village of Talwandi in the existing city of Nankana Sahib, Pakistan, in the year 1469.
Guru Nanak Jayanti, which is traditionally observed on the Hindu lunar calendar's Kartik purnima day, will be observed on november 19, 2021. Guru Nanak's birth celebration is this year, and he was born 552 years ago. The festival kicks off with Akhand Path and Prabhat Pheris a few days before Gurpurab. 2 days prior Gurpurab, Gurudwaras perform Akhand Path, a 48-hour nonstop recitation of the Sikh holy text Guru Granth Sahib. At the Harmandir Sahib, Guru Nanak Jayanti is commemorated in a unique way (Golden Temple). Worshippers come to the golden temple, which is considered one of Sikhism's holiest sites.
