In this case, one of the main events of the Chitrai festival, the Pattabhishekam ceremony for Goddess Meenakshi was held in the Amman Sannidhi Arukal Peetam in the temple. Earlier Meenakshi got up in a special outfit to play the auspicious instruments and special pujas were performed for the Rayar crown the Rayar crown was cast on the Goddess and given a scepter by Thirumalainayakar. Following this, Meenakshiyamman was shown the Deeparathan.

Following Meenakshi Amman Pattabhishekam, Trustee Committee President Rukmini Palanivelrajan, who received the scepter from Amman after the meenakshi amman temple, went around Swami Sannadi II prakaram of meenakshi amman temple and presented the scepter to Amman again. Earlier a golden pen was given to the temple accountant. It is believed that Mother Meenakshi's reign will last for four months in madurai starting from today, the day of Pattabhishekam, till the month of Adi.

It is noteworthy that for the first time, a female trustee of the Meenakshiyamman temple consecration ceremony received the scepter. As a continuation of the festival, Thikku Vijayam will be held tomorrow to mark the legend that Meenakshi Amman incarnated in madurai as Tadathaka Prati, Meenakshi Sundareswarar Thirukalyana Vaibhavam on the 21st, and Meenakshi Sundareswarar Thirutherotam on the streets of Chitrai will be held on the 22nd.
