In the middle of a fireworks display on dubai soil, party poppers exploded and players, including Warner, splashed champagne and his foot was not on the ground when Australian captain Aaron Finch lifted the trophy amid cheers.

Australia, which has not reached the final of four ICC series since march 29, 2015, has won the trophy this time around.

Australia's dream of winning the t20 world cup has not come true so easily, even though they have won so many World Cups, two hat - tricks, and two consecutive Champions Trophy victories.

Now, almost 14 years after the start of the t20 world cup series, that dream has come true for Australia.

At the other end, six years later, new zealand lost to australia in the final of the World Cup.

New Zealand became the first team in ICC world cup history to not win a knockout match.

What happened in the final?

On dubai soil, experts say the toss will play a crucial role in the outcome of the match.

Chennai Super Kings won the last IPL final by batting first on this soil.

Since then, all the teams have struggled to score in international competitions on this soil.

Finch won the toss.

The same team that played in the semi-finals will bang.

New Zealand won the first ICC Test championship by defeating india a few months ago.

But the attempt to capture the ICC world cup did not go unnoticed by the Black Caps this time around.

Five years later the t20 world cup is over.

The Australian team has won the first t20 world cup after a long journey.

But next year the eighth t20 world cup series will take place.
