Harbhajan Singh, the famous spinner who announced his resignation from all forms in december last year, has opened up about why he was never given the opportunity to head Team India. harbhajan singh revealed in a new conversation that he did not have good contacts within India's Board of Control for cricket (BCCI). Harbhajan also stated that he believes he was "capable" of leading India, but that he had no "remorse" about his decision.

The 'Tubanator,' who retired after a stellar two-decade playing career, had indicated that he did not have the BCCI's support in the latter stages of his profession. In 1998, the Jalandhar-born bowler made his debut for Team India, captained by Mohammed Azharuddin. His career began off under the guidance of former captain and current bcci president Saurav Ganguly, whereas Harbhajan's career came to an end under MS Dhoni's watch. Even though he may never have had the capability to guide Team India, 'Bhajji' did captain the mumbai Indians (MI) of the indian Premier League (IPL) in the Champs League in 2011.

Regarding unable to captain the side, he said, "Yes, absolutely! My captaincy is another success that no one mentions. I didn't know anyone at the bcci who could help me with my case because it was necessary (for the national captaincy). Such distinctions are not bestowed upon those who are not among somebody's favourites."
