The ICC award for the best ODI cricketer in 2022 will be announced soon. Four people are competing for this award. Who has achieved what? Now let's see why there is not a single indian player in this. Since the t20 world cup was held this year, various teams did not focus on ODI cricket. In particular, the indian team played very less ODI cricket. However, players like Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gil, and ishaan Kishan all made records. But not a single one of them was included in the ICC recommendation list.
Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam tops this list. Babar Azam won the ICC ODI Player of the Year 2021 award. As a result, the expectation has now arisen whether he will repeat the same feat. Babar Azam has been at the top of the one-day cricket ranking list since July 2021. Babar Azam has scored eight fifties and three hundred this year alone. Babar Azam has led pakistan in nine ODIs this year, winning eight of them. Especially in the current year, Babar Azam scored a century in 73 balls.
Australian player Adam Zampa is second on this list. He has taken 30 wickets in 12 ODIs. It is noteworthy that in 2016 also he had taken 30 wickets. Out of the 12 matches he played in this, 9 matches were played on Australian grounds which were not favorable for spin bowling. The new zealand team failed to reach the target of 196 runs due to Zampa's great bowling and was bowled out for 82 runs. It is noteworthy that Adam Zampa took five wickets.
Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza is also on the list of best ODI cricketers. Sikandar Raza has scored 645 runs in 15 ODIs. This includes two half-cents and three cents. In this, Sikandar Raza scored a century against India. Similarly, Sikandar Raza has taken eight wickets in bowling. Notably, Sikandar Raza is also in the running for the best t20 players.
Fourth on this list is west indies player Shai Hope. Shai Hope has been the highest run-scorer for west indies in ODIs for the past five years. Shai Hope didn't get off to a great start to the year but showed his experience of late. Shai Hope has scored three centuries and two fifties this year. Shai Hope has struggled and has scored more than 50 fifties in ODIs five times this year. The west indies team has lost four matches in this.
