Many international players are moving towards the t20 series including the IPL to avoid Test cricket. So why is this situation not only in India? Many top players have turned to money to play in the SA t20 series run by the South African cricket Board. Due to this, only young players have been selected for the Test series against new zealand which will be held in the same period. Pakistan's star fast bowler Afridi has retired from the third Test to play t20 cricket. Players are deciding not to play Test cricket all over the world. But among them, there is one cricketer who believes that Test cricket is more important than money.
He was Dean Elgar, who was the star player of the South African team. Dean Elgar retired after the Test series against India. It's the hat he's wearing that's got fans drooling now. Dean Elgar has so far played 86 Tests for South Africa. He made his Test debut against australia which started on 30 november 2012.
Dean Elgar has worn only one cap since then till his last Test. Elgar is protecting the cap given to play for his country above his life. While all the other players have changed to new caps, Dean Alger has retained his first cap to this day. Asked about this, Elgar said, Test cricket is as important to him as the world cup is to all. As far as he is concerned Test cricket is the real World Cup. Dean Elgar has said that it has been his dream since childhood to play for his country. He still keeps the cap he used in his first Test as a symbol of being given that opportunity.
