Speaking to jio Cinema following their triumph, Rohit opened up on the team selection for the forthcoming t20 world cup, stating he and head coach rahul dravid attempt to maintain clarity within the group on selection. The 2024 t20 world cup will be hosted in the west indies and the united states, with india beginning their campaign against ireland on june 5.
"We have not selected the 15-member team, but we have 8-10 guys in mind. So we'll create our combinations based on the requirements. Conditions in the west indies are sluggish, so we'll have to draft our team appropriately. rahul dravid and I have attempted to preserve clarity. We attempt to explain why they were or were not chosen, even after they have performed well," Rohit added.
He went on to remark that he has learned throughout his time as captain that he cannot please everyone, maintaining that he is focused on the team's goal while making selection decisions. india has been assigned to Group A of the 2024 t20 world cup, which will also include ireland, Pakistan, the united states and Canada.
"You can't please everyone; that's what I've learned as captain. You can keep 15 players satisfied. Also, just 11 people are happy. The four players on the bench also question why they aren't playing. I've learned that you can't please everyone, and the focus should be on the team's aim," Rohit said.
