The first indian player in the history of WTC..!?
Ravichandran Ashwin became the first indian player to take 150 wickets in the history of the World Test Championship. The World Test championship series was launched by the ICC to attract the attention of fans towards Test cricket. Each World Test championship series is held for not more than 2 years. The new zealand team took oath in 2021 as the first champion of the World Test championship series which has been held since 2019. After that, the Australian team won the champion title in 2023.
The World Test championship finals have been held twice so far, and both times the indian team has advanced to the finals. The indian team's bowlers are the most important reason why the indian team advanced to the finals of the World Test championship both these times. Especially the spinners are the main reason for the success of the domestic test series.
Ravichandran Ashwin has become the first indian player to take 150 wickets in the history of the World Test Championship. Before him, Australian team captain Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon are at the top with 169 wickets each. Ravichandran Ashwin created this record by taking 2 wickets in the first Test match against England. Ashwin was impressive as he took out both England's Ben Duckett and Crawley. Apart from that, Ravichandran Ashwin needs only 8 more wickets to take 500 wickets in Test cricket. If he takes these 8 wickets, he can become the 2nd indian player after Anil Kumble to take 500 wickets. This has raised the expectations of Ashwin among the fans.
