Will Rohit Sharma End India's ICC trophy jinx?

Ahead of their debut t20 world cup 2024 encounter against ireland on june 5, Wednesday, india captain rohit sharma has disclosed how he has been handling the pressure of breaking the team's ICC title curse. India's most recent victory in an ICC tournament was in 2013, when they won the Champions Trophy by defeating England. india has now advanced to the final five times in all three game types; their most recent appearance was in the ODI world cup 2023, when they were heartbrokenly defeated by Australia.
 

There will be a lot of expectation on india to break their trophy curse in the t20 World Cup. Rohit, though, has stated that he intends to play his style and support the other players in becoming a cohesive one. During the pre-match news conference, the captain of india stated he would not be considering the bigger picture.
 

"I have given all of this a lot of thought," Rohit remarked. "I'm just going to play my game now, do whatever I can to support the team, and get everyone to play as a unit. I'm going to concentrate on it. ignoring the bigger picture. Those types of thinking won't do much good, in my opinion. I'll be concentrating on staying in the now and doing what has to be done at that specific moment because that's what matters."
 

According to the indian captain, he prefers to focus on each game as it comes up and avoid looking too far ahead. According to Rohit, he and the team would like not to overplan or put undue strain on themselves.
 
"I'm sure each member of the squad handles competitions like the world cup in a unique way. They'll make the appropriate calls, too, I'm sure. However, I believe that it's crucial to keep an eye on the present. Just consider the tasks we have ahead of us tomorrow. After you play the game well, decide where to go next. We won't overthink things or put undue strain on ourselves," Rohit remarked.
