Badminton: Priyanshu Rajawat upsets, reaches semi-finals of canada Open by defeating this Danish player


Rajawat, the world's number 39 player, defeated Antonsen 21-11, 17-21, 21-19 in a quarter-final match that lasted one hour and 19 minutes. This is the first time that this 22-year-old indian player has defeated a player in the top 10.


India's young badminton player Priyanshu Rajawat created a big upset by defeating the world's number four player Anders Antonsen of Denmark. Rajawat registered the biggest win of his career by defeating Antonsen. Rajawat is looking in great form and he continued his performance against this top-seeded player as well and entered the semi-finals of the canada Open badminton tournament.

Rajawat, the world's number 39 player, defeated Antonsen 21-11, 17-21, 21-19 in a quarter-final match that lasted one hour and 19 minutes. This is the first time that this 22-year-old indian player has defeated a player ranked in the top 10. Rajawat has reached the semi-finals of the World Tour Super 500 tournament for the second time where he will data-face alex Lanier of France. Rajawat started well and at one point in the first game, he was ahead 7-4. However, Antonsen soon equalized the score to 9-9. The indian player then scored five consecutive points. Antonsen then tried to make a comeback, but Rajawat scored seven consecutive points to win the first game.


Antonsen made a strong comeback in the second game, but Rajawat gave him a tough challenge. At one pointthe score was tied at 17-17, but the Danish player scored four consecutive points to drag the match to the deciding game. In the third game, Rajawat was at one point ahead 5-1, but Antonsen managed to gain a slight lead of 11-10 till the interval. After this, both the players gave a tough challenge to each other, but Rajawat scored two consecutive points at a score of 19-19 to win the match. Rajawat had earlier defeated higher-ranked players. He entered the quarterfinals by defeating world number 24 Rasmus Gemke of denmark and 33rd-ranked Takuma Obayashi of Japan.


The indian women's doubles pair of Trisa Jolly and gayatri Gopichand, however, could not progress beyond the quarterfinals. The Trisa-Gayatri pair lost to third-seeded pair Pei Shan Hsieh and En-Tzu Hung of Chinese Taipei 18-21 21-19 16-21.
