Why India-Sri Lanka match is a tie but not super over..!?
The first ODI match between india and sri lanka ended in a tie. After that, many fans who watched live were waiting for the Super Over to be held. But, they were left with disappointment. After the match was tied, both teams shook hands and parted ways. No Super Over was held. What is the international Cricket Council's rule regarding this? Many people were confused. Previously Super Over has been played when one-day matches ended in a tie. But now, why is the Super Over not held only in the first ODI between india and Sri Lanka? The question has arisen.
It may be recalled that in the 2019 ODI world cup Final between england and New Zealand, the Super Over was played as the match was tied. Apart from this, Super Over has been conducted for only three ODIs so far. The 2019 ODI world cup Final, the 2020 ODI between zimbabwe and Pakistan, and the 2023 world cup Qualifier between west indies and the netherlands were played when the Super Over was tied.
