Chennai Super Kings Auction Strategies..!?
In the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction, what will be the strategy of the chennai Super Kings team and who are the players they need in detail?
Chennai Super Kings are looking forward to the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The reason is that once again its hero ms dhoni is going to play. CSK has retained dhoni as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore. While he was retained for Rs 12 crore in the last mega auction, he has now reduced the price by Rs 8 crore to suit the fan's choice. chennai Super Kings has always been running with dhoni as the center. Throughout the last season, Ruturaj Gaikwad acted as the captain. Before that, no one other than dhoni had captained CSK for an entire season. Even though Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain, the attention of crores of fans and cricket watchers is on Dhoni. In that way, it is likely that the team will be formed with dhoni as the center in the coming 2025 season as well.
After dhoni and Ruturaj, CSK has retained the players that many expected, namely Jadeja, Dube and Pathirana. Conway, Rachin ravindra, Tusshar Deshpande, etc. will be released by CSK for the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, but one of them is sure to be retained by RTM. Looking at the current 5 players retained, an opening batsman, a middle-order action batsman, an indian spin all-rounder, a batsman in a finishing role at the back, an opening batsman in the death overs, and a fast bowler have filled the slots. In this, the opening spot will be filled if Rachin retains ravindra or Conway again. CSK will also take uncapped players like Ayush Mhatre as their backup.
Who is at number 3...?
Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, and Ajinkya Rahane have mixed up who CSK is waiting to fill the No. 3 spot. CSK should try to pick Nitish Rana, venkatesh Iyer, rahul Tripathi, deepak Hooda, Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan, and manish pandey among others. At the same time, CSK will look to pick a foreigner in the middle order, meaning they need someone in Moeen Ali's spot. CSK will target Glenn Maxwell, Glenn Phillips, and Liam Livingston among others. All three of them are not only action batsmen but also likely to act as excellent spinners in Chepauk. Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Romario Shepard, etc can be kept if they come at a good price.
Likewise, with Dube, Jadeja, and dhoni, CSK definitely needs an indian action player in between. CSK should target ex-Mumbai indian players like Nehal Vadera and Kurnal Pandya. Robin Minns, KS Bharat, etc. can also be taken as back-up for Dhoni. CSK will definitely take ishan kishan if he is available at a good price as rishabh pant is hard to come by. If he's picked, he's likely to die on a one-down or opening.
Fast bowling options:
In terms of pace, CSK will target Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ansul Kamboj, james Anderson, Hazlewood, Natarajan, Harshal Patel, and Aaron Hardy among others. CSK may target Afghan spinners like Allah Ghazanfar and Waqar Salamkhail in Deekshana's place. CSK will also try to rope in Ashwin, Washington Sundar, and others. At the same time, if the above players are not available, CSK will not hesitate to take sameer Rizvi, deepak Saha, mukesh Chaudhary, Simarjit Singh, Shardul Thakur, who were in CSK last season. CSK doesn't always move the dice on the biggest star players. Dhoni's CSK has played by keeping stokes out even if he took him in a mini-auction.
CSK has bid for Rs 55 crore. 10 - 15 Crores are earmarked for a player doing RTM. So, one can only be sure that CSK will be picking up experienced players who are available at average prices elsewhere.
