Haryana's international high jumper pooja improved her under-18 national record on the third day of the 39th National junior championship at the Kalinga Stadium here on Monday. 17-year-old pooja improved the national record with a jump of 1.85 meters in the high jump during the heptathlon competition. Her previous national record of 1.83 meters was recorded during the World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru in August.

Delhi's promising 400-meter runner jai Kumar, who has been performing consistently well since the beginning of this year, maintained his dominance on the track. Along with winning the gold medal in the men's under-20 400-meter race, he also improved the meet record of 46.59 seconds set by Amoj Jacob in 2017. jai clocked 46.29 seconds.


The girls' under-16 javelin throw saw a tough competition with the top six players bettering the national record. Muskan from Haryana managed to win the gold medal with a best performance of 46.87m. She beat the previous under-16 national record of 40.01m set by Shivani patel this year by a big margin.
