Airtel refuses to return Rs 20 to customer..?
Court has been ordered to refund Rs. 1020 to the
petitioner in the case of non-refund of Rs. 20 /. Hussain Sharif hails from the Thotakanelli area of Karnataka. He is using an
airtel SIM card. He has always been constantly recharging for 49 rupees. With the validity of his pack expiring last
august 4, telecommunications
services have been affected.
Thus, he has recharged the bag online for Rs 49 with Rs 20. The recharge was accepted and a balance of Rs. 14.95 was credited to his account. The message for this has also reached Sharif's number. However, his incoming and outgoing facilities have been restricted. Another message that came shortly after said that the recharge made for 20 rupees is not valid.
The stern sheriff called the
airtel service center and reported the matter. However, they said that the
service for his SIM card will be reactivated only if he recharges for 79 rupees. Following this,
airtel has appealed to company representatives. However, he did not get a proper response from them and filed a case against
airtel in the Chandinagar Consumer Court.
Sharif appeared on his behalf during the trial of the case. At the time, he had questioned how
airtel had accepted the recharge when there was no plan for 20 rupees.
airtel has not been notified of any inquiries throughout the five months since the case was filed, despite a notice being served on Airtel. Following this, the
court judges examined the conversation between
airtel and Sharif and confirmed that he had been recharged for 20 rupees.
In the absence of a Rs 20 recharge plan,
airtel should have refunded the amount to the petitioner. But,
airtel failed to do that. The
court ruled that it was improper
business to withhold Rs.20 from the
customer and ordered them to pay Rs 1020rs as a fine.
