Train ticket bookings rise to 82 percent..!?
Chennai-Railway's irctc website has seen an 82 percent increase in train ticket bookings. However, as the 'server' is not upgraded, passengers are complaining of several technical glitches . In 2013, 51.27 percent of people booked train tickets through railway station reservation centers. This has came low to 18 percent. Similarly, the indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has increased its ticket booking from 48.73 percent to 82 percent. This is due to the increasing use of mobile phones and computers by people due to the development of technology and the booking of train tickets through websites and apps. Due to increasing usage, irctc is upgrading the website facility with various additional facilities.
However, as the server is not upgraded, travelers complain of many technical glitches on this website. In this regard, some people said that previously, on the irctc website only train tickets were booked. Currently, they use it to avail various facilities like omnibuses, food ordering, restrooms, wheelchair booking, etc.
As a result, this website runs slowly. Sometimes there is a technical glitch. In particular, the irctc app often malfunctions. While booking tatkal tickets, it is difficult to book tickets immediately. Therefore, they said that the server speed of irctc should be increased.
IRCTC's top officials said that they are constantly monitoring the irctc website so that it does not get affected. However, while booking tickets through mobile phones, there have been reports of glitches for a few minutes. The 'network' problem in telecom companies, is the main reason for this is. irctc is considering increasing the website server speed, they said.
