25 indian Airports With No Night Landing Facility...!?
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has said that although most of the airports in india have night landing facilities, few airports do not have night landing facilities. It has been reported that a few airports do not have a night landing facility at present but that facility will be set up in the near future. 25 operational airports in india do not have night landing facilities. According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, 25 airports, including Kushinagar airport, shimla airport, and the recently opened Deoghar airport in Jharkhand, do not have night landing facilities.
Upgrading or modernization of airports, including night landing facilities, is a continuous process and will be undertaken by the Airports Authority of india (AAI) and other airport operators from time to time depending on land, and business, the ministry said. At present night landing facility is not available in 25 operational airports with fully required and scheduled flight operations based on the operational requirement of flights and land availability said the ministry said. Airports Authority of india has recently installed a night landing facility at Kolhapur Airport. A team from the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) inspected Kolhapur airport on 10 june 2022. Based on the activities carried out by DGCA during the inspection, the airport has got a night landing facility.
Airports without night landing facilities often register low passenger traffic, civil aviation officials said, adding that there are over 100 operational airports in the country, an official of the Directorate of Civil Aviation said. He said that there was no major impact.
However, while most of the airports in india have night landing facilities, the government is said to be considering providing night landing facilities to the airports which do not have this facility.
