It is known that movie reviews on social media, YouTube channels and web media are rapidly going viral and attracting the audience. But now a court case has been filed against the critics of the online reviewers. Coincidentally the kerala High court took up this case. It has sent a notice to the indian Broadcasting Ministry to submit clear guidelines for online film reviewers. It all started when Mubeen Raoof, the director of the malayalam film ``Aromalinte Aditye Pranayam'', filed a case in the kerala High Court. He asked that any online reviewers be banned from writing reviews of his film for a week after its theatrical release. In his petition, he alleged that these online reviews are spreading a negative narrative about movies and they are not good for the film industry by default.
The petitioner claimed that these negative reviews would affect the financial condition of the film industry, thereby jeopardizing the livelihood of thousands of families. The kerala High court took up the case. Union Ministry has been asked for clear guidelines on online reviews. The next court will inquire about this. We have to wait and see what will be the verdict of the High Court. It is well known that online piracy is causing huge losses to the industry beyond movie reviewers.
