Meta: 41 states of America have filed a lawsuit against social media giant Meta. It is alleged that the company is making children addicted through FB and Instagram.

Washington, DC along with 41 states of America have filed a lawsuit against social media giant Meta. The company is accused of introducing such features on its platform, instagram and data-facebook which attract children and they are becoming addicted to it. This legal action has been taken to reduce the increasing impact of social media on the mental health of children.
According to the Washington Post report, the 233-page federal complaint states that the company misleads users on safety features and harmful content for the sake of profit and is also violating federal laws on children's privacy. It has been said in the complaint that Meta is adding such features to its platform which keep children engaged throughout the day and this is hurting their mental health.
According to the report
state officials have claimed that the company deliberately made changes to keep children on the site in violation of consumer protection laws, which would affect their health. 33 states, including Colorado and California, have filed a joint lawsuit against Meta in federal court for the Northern district of California, while DC and eight state attorneys general are filing separate complaints in local or state-level courts.

On the lawsuit filed by 41 states, Meta spokeswoman Lisa Crenshaw said the company is disappointed that the states have chosen the direct court route. He said that the government could have worked with the company on age-related rules for different apps but they did not do so.
