85 lakh WhatsApp accounts are frozen..!? What is the reason?
There are many cases of fraud in India. As a result, Meta-owned whatsapp has banned several whatsapp accounts in India. This step is taken to improve the security of the millions of people who use whatsapp and prevent people from misusing the platform. This is expected to protect the privacy of the individual. In order to avoid fraud incidents, whatsapp banned more than 8.5 million accounts in india in september which violated its policy. From september 1 to september 30, 8,584,000 accounts were permanently banned, of which 1,658,000 were banned before any reporting notification from users, according to WhatsApp's monthly report under new IT norms 2021. whatsapp, India's popular mobile messaging site with more than 600 million users, has received 8,161 complaints from people across the country. Out of them, 97 complaints have been immediately acted upon.
Fraudulent accounts are detected at three levels. One when a traveler registers, another when sending a message, another when there is negative feedback on the messages being sent.. ie a user can report or block if they don't need it and this helps detect fraudulent accounts.
Between august 1, 2024, and august 31, 2024, 8,458,000 whatsapp accounts were banned out of such detected accounts, of which 1,661,000 were banned before any complaints were received from users. whatsapp continues to focus on improving passenger safety. WhatsApp's move to provide a more secure platform has won praise among people.
