Google introduced quantum computer chip 'Willow'!

Recently google unveiled its latest quantum processor, 'Willow'. This chip is considered to be a giant leap in the computing field, and it is believed that it will change the future of computing and its use forever. google researchers have enabled this chip to demonstrate the first 'below limit' quantum calculation. According to google, with the right error-correction techniques in the Willow chip, quantum computers can perform calculations with increasing accuracy as they are scaled up - the rate of this improvement exceeds a critical limit. Willow has 105 physical qubits and has been built by google since 2021 at its quantum-computing campus in Santa Barbara, California.

The chip solves two major problems with quantum computers as we know them today. First, google claims that Willow can "exponentially" reduce quantum computing errors. Quantum computers, as Microsoft's Azure Quantum explains, are more prone to errors than conventional computers.

What is quantum computing?

Quantum computing is a computing technology that is quite different from conventional computers. The computers we see today use binary calculations, they work on "bits", which can be either 1 or 0. Meaning whatever information is in front of us, it is actually in the form of 1 or 0, and the computer uses logic to make that information readable and understandable by humans. If we talk about quantum computers, then they work on qubits. These qubits can work on both 1 and 0 simultaneously. A qubit uses the quantum mechanical phenomenon of superposition to obtain a linear combination of two states, and processes the information in a very short time.

In addition, two or more qubits can be connected to each other, this is called entanglement. This means that the state of one qubit can depend on another qubit. Quantum computers use qubits to solve large and complex problems efficiently and quickly. The ability of qubits to superpose and entangle gives quantum computers the power to perform parallel computation, which is impossible for classical computers.
