WhatsApp Web Feature Updates (Voice/Video Calls + More)

📣 1. Voice & Video Calling Directly on whatsapp Web

One of the biggest upcoming features for whatsapp Web is native voice and video calling — something long available on mobile but not yet fully on the web version. Users will soon be able to:

  • Make individual and group voice calls right from the web browser.
  • Start group video calls without needing to switch to your phone or desktop app.
This is a major expansion of functionality and brings the web version closer to the full whatsapp experience. Meta hasn’t given a firm release date yet, but the rollout is expected soon.

📢 2. Possible Support for Larger Group Calls

According to recent technology reports, whatsapp is testing group calling for up to ~32 participants on the web — similar to what’s available on mobile.
This means you could use whatsapp Web for bigger team calls, family chats, or group meet-ups without switching platforms.

📌 Also in testing:

  • Call links and scheduled calls — so you can send joinable links or set call times right from whatsapp Web.
📂 3. Centralized media Hub for whatsapp Web

Separate from calling, whatsapp is working on a new media hub feature for the web version. This will let you:

  • Access all shared files (photos, videos, GIFs, docs, links) across chats in one place.
This makes finding and managing shared content much easier compared to scrolling back through multiple chats.

🧠 What This Means for Users

➡️ Major messaging upgrade: whatsapp Web will no longer be just for typing — soon you’ll call and video chat directly from your browser.
➡️ Better media management: The media hub will clean up how shared files are accessed — especially handy if you use whatsapp for work or content.
