Instagram Account Locked? Forgot Your Password or Hacked? Here’s How to Recover It

Step 1: Identify the Problem

Your account may be locked or inaccessible due to:

1. Forgotten password

2. Hacked account (someone changed your password or email)

3. Security issues (suspicious login detected by Instagram)

Step 2: Use Instagram’s “Forgot Password” Feature

1. Open the Instagram app or visit Instagram login page.

2. Click on “Forgot password?”

3. Enter your username, email, or phone number linked to your account.

4. instagram will send a password reset link via email or SMS.

5. Follow the link to create a new password and regain access.

Step 3: Recover a Hacked Account

If your account was hacked and the email/phone number was changed:

1. Go to Instagram Help Center → Get help signing in.

2. Choose “My account was hacked”.

3. Enter your username, email, or phone number.

4. Follow instructions to verify your identity:

o instagram may ask for a photo of yourself holding a code or other proof.

5. After verification, you can reset your password and secure your account.

Step 4: Secure Your Account

Once you regain access:

· Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

o Go to Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication

o Use SMS or authentication app for added security

· Update email and phone number linked to Instagram

· Check account activity:

o Settings → Security → Login Activity

o Log out of unrecognized devices
