The worry of lost bags is over: Google's new feature will now allow airlines to see the live location of lost luggage; learn how it works.

Google lost luggage tracking: Losing luggage is one of the biggest hassles during travel. To alleviate this problem, google has added a new feature to its Find Hub app. This feature allows passengers to share the real-time location of their bags directly with the airline via a secure link.

Lost or misplaced luggage is a common problem during air travel. Keeping this in mind, google has added a new Share Item Location feature to its Find Hub platform. This feature allows passengers to share the location of their lost bag directly with the airline. This provides airlines with more accurate information when locating their luggage and reduces the need for frequent updates from passengers.

How will this feature work?

When a passenger loses their bag, they can share its location in the Find Hub app with a few simple steps. First:

Open the Find Hub app and select the bag associated with your tracker.

Tap the Share Item Location option.

The app will then generate a secure and unique link.

Share this link to the airline's lost-baggage form, app, or website.

How to Track?

To take advantage of this feature, passengers must have the following:

If you have an Android smartphone, install the Find Hub app.

Tag a Find Hub-compatible tracker attached to your bag. Choose an airline that supports this system.

Some luggage brands, such as Samsonite, are now offering suitcases that already have this tracking technology.

Which airlines will offer this feature?

Google has partnered with several international airlines, including air India, Jet, china airlines, Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian airlines, Brussels airlines, Swiss), Saudi Arabia, Scandinavian airlines, and Turkish airlines, to add this feature. Additionally, Qantas is expected to launch this feature soon. This feature also works with baggage tracking systems like WorldTracer and NetTracer, which are used by hundreds of airports and airlines around the world.

Is it secure?

According to google, yes...it is secure. They say that user privacy was prioritized when creating this feature. For security, it includes:

Encrypted location data: Location information remains securely encrypted.

User control: The link is shared only with the person they wish to allow.

Auto-expire: The shared link automatically closes after approximately 7 days.

Auto-stop: Location sharing stops as soon as the phone detects that the bag has been returned to the user.

Why is this feature important?

Millions of bags are misplaced every year during air travel. Previously, passengers had to wait for updates from the airline, but now they can speed up the search process by sharing accurate location information themselves. Experts say this feature could further strengthen smart luggage tracking systems in the future.
