How to Schedule a Call or Message on WhatsApp: A Step-by-Step Guide

Balasahana Suresh
WhatsApp does not natively support scheduling messages or calls directly within the app. However, you can use third-party apps, built-in phone features, or whatsapp business tools to achieve this. Here’s how.

1. Scheduling a whatsapp Message Using whatsapp Business

If you have WhatsApp Business, it has built-in features to schedule messages (called “message templates” and quick replies).

Steps:

Open WhatsApp Business on your phone.

Go to the chat with the contact you want to message.

Tap the three dots (menu) → business tools → Away message.

Enable Send away message and set a custom schedule.

Enter the message content you want to send.

Select recipients and time to send.

✅ Your message will be automatically sent at the scheduled time.

2. Scheduling whatsapp Messages Using Third-Party Apps

For standard whatsapp, you can use apps like SKEDit, Do It Later, or AutoMessage to schedule messages.

Example Using SKEDit (Android):

Install SKEDit from google Play Store.

Open the app and create an account.

Tap WhatsApp → Add recipient.

Type your message and select the date & time.

Enable “Ask me before sending” or leave it automatic.

Save → Your message will be sent at the chosen time.

⚠️ These apps may require accessibility permissions to send messages automatically.

3. Using phone Reminders to Schedule whatsapp Calls

WhatsApp calls cannot be directly scheduled, but you can set a reminder on your phone to make a call at a specific time.

Steps (iOS & Android):

Open Google Calendar or Apple Calendar.

Create a new event at the time you want to call.

Add the contact name and note (e.g., “Call john on WhatsApp”).

Set a reminder notification 5–10 minutes before the call.

✅ You’ll get notified, then just open whatsapp and place the call.

4. Tips for Smooth Scheduling

  • Always double-check time zones if messaging someone in a different region.
  • For repeated messages, consider using recurring reminders in your calendar or automation apps.
  • Ensure your phone remains connected to the internet at the scheduled time.
  • Avoid third-party apps from unverified sources—they may compromise your privacy.
5. Alternative Automation Tools

  • IFTTT (If This Then That): Can automate whatsapp messages using certain triggers (requires whatsapp Web).
  • Tasker (Android): Advanced automation app that can schedule whatsapp messages and notifications.
Scheduling messages and calls can save time, help manage reminders, and ensure you never miss an important communication on WhatsApp.
