Tirupati - Massive Fraud In TTD Bookings Exposed
Utilizing the requirements of Section 4(4)(b)(ii) of the Aadhaar Act under Good Governance, the project, which was recently authorized by the ttd trust board under the leadership of chairman BR Naidu, aims to guarantee that authentic pilgrims enjoy smooth and secure services.
At the moment, ttd does not have a strong system in place to verify the identification documents that pilgrims provide while making online and offline reservations for darshan and lodging. Fraudulent activities like as impersonation, mass reservations, and unapproved service resale have been facilitated by this loophole.
Trends in online reservations were similarly unsettling. It was discovered that 926 reservations were connected to a single email address, and 807 reservations were connected to a single cellphone number.
Furthermore, 48 registrations had the same email address, and over 1,279 registrations in the fortunate DIP registration system were linked to a single cellphone number.
With intermediaries and touts undermining the system, these results highlight the existence of rackets in the TTD's booking infrastructure. They make large reservations for accommodations or darshan slots, then resell them for exorbitant fees. This prevents sincere pilgrims from having prompt and reasonably priced access to TTD's services.
TTD would integrate eKYC and Aadhaar-based authentication across all of its service platforms in order to overcome these obstacles.
According to him, the integration would make use of data-face recognition and biometric verification connected to Aadhaar, guaranteeing that only registered users may use the services. This would "reduce"—that is, not completely eradicate—the role of intermediaries and end impersonation.
Through a straightforward "Yes" or "No" confirmation from the unique identification authority of india (UIDAI), the Aadhaar authentication procedure will verify demographic information including name, age, gender, and address.
In order to function as an Authentication User Agency (AUA) and KYC User Agency (KUA), ttd must pay a one-time registration cost of Rs 20 lakh for a two-year period as part of their cooperation with UIDAI. While eKYC transactions would cost Rs 3.40 per, Aadhaar authentication will cost Rs 0.004 per transaction.
To evaluate the initiative's operational and technological viability, ttd authorities have collaborated closely with UIDAI. During their visit to tirupati, uidai representatives talked about integrating Aadhaar authentication and affirmed that ttd may use these services for good governance-data-aligned objectives under the Aadhaar Act of 2016.
