The upcoming tamil movie "Captain Miller," directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring dhanush in the lead role, is set to release for the sankranti festival. The film also features kannada star Shivraj Kumar and telugu young hero Sandeep Kishan in pivotal roles. Recently, the movie underwent the censor process, during which the censor board decided to make a significant cut of four minutes in the climax. The original runtime of the movie was 2 hours, 42 minutes, and 26 seconds, but after the censor cut, it has been reduced to 2 hours, 37 minutes. The reason for this substantial cut is reported to be the film unit's desire to obtain a U/A (parental guidance) certificate. The strict implementation of age norms for certified movies is becoming more prevalent in theatres.
In line with this, the censor board has warned theatres not to allow viewers under the age of 18 to watch certified movies, even when purchasing tickets online. In response to these regulations, it appears that the film unit of "Captain Miller" has opted for a U/A certificate. Despite the delay in the telugu release to january 19, the movie is set to release in all other languages. The film is expected to perform well at the box office, given the high anticipation and significant business in non-theatrical rights, making it one of the most promising projects in Dhanush's career.
