Doctor Strange 2 Ending Changed During Filming, Says Cumberbatch
The ending of the upcoming sequel, doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, changed slightly during filming, according to Benedict Cumberbatch. Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Strange inadvertently opened a rift in the multiverse by casting a memory spell to protect Peter Parker (Tom Holland), the sorcerer must enlist the help of Wong (Benedict Wong), Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), and America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) in order to keep the universe together. The sequel, directed by sam Raimi, will contain a large cast of characters, including MCU heroes and cameos from other universes.
Kevin Feige and his team of writers are known for planning their characters' journeys in phases ahead of time, with the current MCU slate extending until 2032. However, due to unanticipated events like as a global viral epidemic or the death of an actor, plans may need to be altered fast, resulting in rewrites and reshoots. Even the Avengers: Endgame ending had to be reshot due to the fact that the film's principal photography was done before Avengers: Infinity war was released, necessitating changes.
He explained "There's a lot to look at, explain, and take in. However, by the end, there is a sense of propulsion, which is similar to the last third. Which, in classic Marvel form, was very much up in the air when we started shooting. It all comes together brilliantly."
