More than 2 thousand animals are protected in Vandalur Zoo. A medical team has been set up to monitor the health of the animals and the animals are being cared for. In this case, it has been common for animals including lions and tigers to die unexpectedly due to virus infection for more than 2 years. Similarly, even recently, zebras have died due to old age.
Even recently, a 32-year-old lion named Manikandan died. A lion named Bhuvana (25) who was ill at the Vandalur Arinjar Anna Zoo died yesterday (July 4) around 7 pm. In a press release issued by the park administration, a 25-year-old female lion named Bhuvana alias Viji was suffering from rectal prolapse and was undergoing continuous treatment for the past one month. A medically uncorrectable condition persisted due to advanced age.
Therefore, due to the need for surgery, the animal was anesthetized and operated on by a team of surgeons from the tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Science University.
But it is reported that the lion died due to old age and the surgery was unsuccessful. This has been a shock to many. It is a pity that the lion died without treatment..!
