Zomato canceled the pizza order..!? Fine of Rs. 10,000..!?

The court has imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on zomato for canceling a customer's pizza order. This fine is seen as a major setback as zomato has been embroiled in various controversies for the past few months. rajesh sharma recently ordered a pizza from zomato at 10.15 pm. For that, he had paid Rs.287.70 online.
And he was paying an additional 10 rupees for the food to be delivered on time. He had placed this order based on the advertisement that if it is not delivered on time, it is your money. But even by 10.30 pm, his order was not delivered. Apart from that, zomato canceled his order and promised to refund his money.
Shocked by this, Rajesh filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Commission. Can an order be picked up and delivered by itself? He had stated in his complaint that the order should be taken only after confirmation and after charging an extra 10 rupees for on-time delivery, canceling the order after the delivery time is a service defect. The case was presided over by Chief Justice Mr. raj Shekhar Adri, and Deputy Justice Mr. Rajesh K arya was heard before.
The judges heard the case and said that it is completely wrong to advertise the order received from the customer as a proper delivery and promise to deliver the order to a particular customer and then cancel the order.Judges ruled that the client suffered both mentally and physically and ordered that the client be given Rs 10,000 as compensation and possibly free food.
