On december 31 and january 1, 2023, the government increased the hours that pubs, bars, and wineries could sell alcohol until one in the morning. On New Year's Eve, though, police also conducted "drink and drive" checks in every nook and cranny of the city. Tipplers still drive out with their cars after getting really drunk despite knowing that.

According to the police, 3,173 drunk driving cases were reported across the three commissionerates. In the commissionerates of hyderabad (1,413), Cyberabad (1,314), and Rachakonda (446), instances were registered. Around 275 teams that fall under the authority of these commissionerates were subject to police inspections. In contrast, on New Year's Eve of previous year, 3,146 drunk-driving cases were reported. Cases have slightly increased this year.

The records state that 2,381 commuters were found driving on the wrong side of the road, 6,242 commuters were found driving without a helmet, 609 commuters were found riding without a licence, 513 were punished for triple-riding. In addition, 479 automobiles received fines for unauthorised parking. In the areas of Madhapur, Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Miyapur, and KPHB, the majority of drunk driving incidents were reported and this is indeed an unfortunate record.
