Ban on addition of artificial colors in basmati rice..!?
The Food Safety Standards Commission of india has banned the addition of artificial colors in basmati rice. Basmati rice has always had a special place among rice types. It is the number one choice of rice to prepare Biryani which is mainly considered as the favorite food of the people. Foods made from this long and highly aromatic rice are highly preferred by people.
This rice is also exported abroad. Artificial colors are added to Basmati rice to enhance its aroma and color. In this situation, the Food Safety Standards Authority of india has issued a new order to control this and protect consumer welfare. For the first time, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of india has banned the addition of artificial colors to Basmati rice.
According to this directive, basmati rice should retain its natural aromatic properties, and avoid artificial coloring, polishing, and the addition of artificial fragrance compounds. Food Safety Standards Authority has been informed that these regulations will come into effect from august 1. This order made by the food safety standards authority will make the people more aware and also health conscious.
