A squad from the Special police Establishment (SPE) of the jabalpur Lokayukta was able to catch a patwari of the revenue department in Madhya Pradesh's Katni red-handed on Monday, and he promptly swallowed the cash he had collected as bribe. The Patwari, who was assigned to the madhya pradesh district of Katni, chewed and then swallowed the bills. In a land lawsuit, Patwari Gajendra Singh had asked the plaintiff Chandan Singh Lodhi for a payment of Rs 5,000. Lodhi then protested to Lokayukta jabalpur about the situation.
A team from the Lokayukta jabalpur arrived in Bilhari after conducting an investigation, and when Patwari Gajendra Singh was taking a bribe of Rs. 4,500 at his private office, Singh was caught red-handed. When Patwari was taken into custody, he immediately swallowed the cash. He was then taken to the neighbourhood hospital. The bribe notes were ultimately removed from his lips in the form of pulp after much effort.
"We received a complaint from a guy from Barkheda village who said Singh was looking for a bribe. The patwari took the cash and swallowed it after spotting the SPE team. Sanjay Sahu, SPE's superintendent of police, claimed that after being taken to a hospital, the staff there declared him to be in good condition. According to the SP, a case had been filed against him, and additional investigation was ongoing.
