IKEA Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Pyjama Party
IKEA, the Swedish furniture giant, has made its mark in the Guinness World Records—not for its product sales, but for a unique celebration. The company recently brought together 2,052 employees for a special event marking the opening of a new store in Sweden. Instead of a typical corporate event, IKEA organized a pyjama-themed party, setting the record for the largest assembly of people in two-piece pyjamas at one location.
Company representatives explained that this record attempt was part of IKEA’s broader initiative to enhance bedroom décor and promote better sleep. Fredrika Inger, Managing director of IKEA Sweden, stated, “We’re excited about this collaborative effort. Quality sleep is crucial for everyone, and we believe that focusing on it can make a substantial difference. Simple changes, such as selecting the right pillow or lighting, can greatly improve sleep quality. Our aim is to make these enhancements accessible to everyone because good sleep should be universally attainable.”
In a related note, an individual achieved a world record by solving a Rubik’s Cube in 24 seconds while skydiving, and American architect Bryan Berg set a record by constructing the tallest house of cards—54 levels high—in just 8 hours, a feat so challenging that he needed a ladder to complete the upper floors.
