Over 70 Flights Receive Bomb Threats In 6 Days, indigo And Akasa air Flights Latest Targets

IndiGo confirmed threats to flights from mumbai to Istanbul and delhi to Istanbul. Other international flights, including air india Express and Vistara, have also been targeted.

More than 70 flights have received bomb threats since Monday. On saturday, 5 indigo planes and 5 flights of Akasa airlines received bomb threats. indigo confirmed its awareness of the situation related to flight number 6E 17 from mumbai to Istanbul.


In a press statement, indigo airlines said on saturday that the threat was received for flight 6E 17 operating from mumbai to Istanbul, and flight 6E 11 operating from delhi to Istanbul.


"The safety and security of our passengers and crew is our highest priority and we are working closely with the relevant authorities and taking all necessary precautions as per the guidelines," the airline stated.


In another statement, the company said, we are aware of the situation related to flight 6E11 operating from delhi to Istanbul. The safety of passengers and crew is our top priority and we are working closely with the concerned authorities.


Another indigo flight 6E 184, operating from jodhpur to Delhi also received a similar bomb threat.  


Bomb Threat To international Flights

Earlier on friday night, bomb threats were issued against several international flights. One of the targeted flights was air india Express IX 196, which was carrying 189 passengers. The plane, which landed at jaipur international airport at 1:20 am, was thoroughly searched, but no suspicious items were found.


In a similar incident, three other international flights also received bomb threats, which were later confirmed to be hoaxes. As a precautionary measure, one of the flights was diverted to Frankfurt.


According to a Vistara spokesperson, on Friday, three Vistara flights departing from delhi to London, Paris, and hong kong were threatened via social media.All relevant authorities were immediately informed about the threats, but it was foundto be false after investigation.


As per the report, Civil Aviation minister K Rammohan Naidu said on wednesday that the government was closely monitoring the situation due to bomb threats to flights and asserted that all required steps are taken against such activities.


He condemned the recent bomb threats to indian carriers and confirmed that the mumbai police have arrested a minor responsible for issuing bomb threats to three flights.
