Investment in shares in the equity market has emerged as the most preferred investment option among India's next generation high net worth individuals. This information has been given in a latest report.

Knight Frank's report showed that 23 percent of 'rich young Indians' consider shares as their primary investment, followed by 22 percent cash and 21 percent property. This trend is also similar globally, where 22 percent of the next generation HNWIs have chosen shares as their primary investment, followed by property and cash.

Globally, this figure is slightly more than 9 percent. Bonds have received the interest of 8 percent of India's rich young individuals, while there is an interest of 6.5 percent worldwide. The Knight Frank report highlights that despite the growing popularity of alternative investments such as cryptocurrencies, venture capital and art, the younger generation still prefers traditional assets. Shares, property and cash remain the most popular investment options across all income groups.

The report also highlights investment options by gender. Globally, men prefer shares, while women are inclined towards property and cash investments. However, both men and women of the next generation of wealthy individuals in india prefer shares over other asset classes.

A Knight Frank report has revealed that the next generation of wealthy indians is showing keen interest in luxury assets, with high-end cars and premium real estate emerging as their preferences. Around 46.5 per cent of the next generation HNWIs in india aspire to own a luxury car, making it the most sought-after asset. Luxury homes are also a major attraction, with 25.7 per cent expressing a desire to invest in high-end real estate. Real estate is the second most preferred luxury asset among India's young wealthy individuals, the report said. Apart from cars and property, art collection is another preferred investment, with 11.9 per cent showing interest in buying valuable art pieces.
