What is Garia Puja?
Garia Puja is one of the important festivals of Tripura, which is celebrated every year on the seventh day of the month of Baisakh. The puja starts on the last day of Chaitra month and ends on the seventh day of Baisakh month. During this time people gather in temples and worship the statue of baba Garia made of bamboo.
Rice, wine, earthen pots, thread clothes etc. are used in Garia Puja. people sing traditional songs and dance with drums. Devotees pray to Garia baba for good crop yield. It is also a symbol of prosperity and happiness.
April bank Holiday
April 26 is the fourth saturday of the month, due to which banks will remain closed across the country. On this day, there will also be a holiday for Gauri Puja at some places.
Parshuram Jayanti is on april 29, due to which banks will remain closed in himachal pradesh on this day.
Banks will remain closed in karnataka on the occasion of Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya on april 30.
